What happens next
Every page shows the maintenance message, to search engines too, which then know it's temporary. One request later your site is back.
Protect and fine-tune
Things you'd normally call an administrator for are one request here. They apply on the servers in front of your site, so your pages don't have to change.
- Put the /members folder behind a password.
- Which password do you want to use? I won't make one up myself.
- /members asks for a password
How it works
A password on a folder is meant for things like a members' page or a client area with one shared password. It isn't made for personal accounts for visitors.
A redirect sends an old address on to a new one, so links and search results keep working.
Examples
What you can say
Take what fits, swap in your own names and send it to your AI.
Password on a folder
You say:
Put the /members folder behind a password. Username: members, password: [choose your own].
What happens next
Anyone opening the folder gets a login box from the browser. You can do this for up to ten folders.
Redirect an old address
You say:
The page /rates is now called /prices. Redirect the old address.
What happens next
Your AI adds the redirect to your site and publishes. Visitors and Google end up at the new address by themselves.
Visitors by country
You say:
My site is only for the US and Canada. Block visitors from other countries.
What happens next
Other countries get an error message. You can also do the opposite and block just a few countries or IP addresses. Keep in mind that search engines count as visitors from other countries too.
Protect your photos
You say:
Make sure other sites can't show my photos directly.
What happens next
Images, videos and PDFs then only load on your own site.
With or without www
You say:
Make www.harpersbakery.com the main address.
What happens next
The bare domain now sends visitors on to www.
Refresh a page
You say:
My prices page is still showing the old prices. Clear its cache.
What happens next
The servers fetch that page again. You can do this ten times an hour, twenty addresses at a time.

- Settings that affect the whole site, such as maintenance, take effect within seconds.
- Maintenance, passwords and access can also be set on the Settings tab of your site on app.spaicely.com.
