About us

Hosting rethought, by someone who has done it before.

Spaicely belongs to Roger Heykoop. He started in web hosting in 1996 and now, for the first time in twenty years, sees a reason to do it completely differently.

Since 1996

From VuurWerk to Spaicely

In 1996 Roger founded VuurWerk Internet. By 1999 it was the largest and fastest-growing web hosting provider in the Benelux: 12% of all Dutch websites ran at VuurWerk.

Until 2008 he ran several web hosting and domain registration companies. He knows the trade from the inside: the servers, the registries and the customer who calls on a Sunday evening because their mail isn't working.

Spaicely is a service of Vuurpijl Beheer B.V. in Spaarndam, the Netherlands.

Why

The hosting world stood still.

Hosting companies still work as if it were 2001. You get a control panel such as Plesk or cPanel, a separate domain registration and a manual. It is complicated and unfriendly, and apart from the price there is hardly any difference between providers.

Most sites run on WordPress, in PHP. On every visit PHP starts, connects to the database, fetches the content and puts the page together, while that page hasn't changed in months. That can be faster, safer and cheaper.

And anyone who wants a good-looking site easily pays a web designer $1,700 for a theme. An AI can design, build and maintain a site, as long as it has somewhere to publish. That place is Spaicely.
